Dear Sir,
My Acer Travelmate 4060 has been working perfectly fine for 6 yrs already. Only once I had to exchange the RAM chip that crashed my computer and a damaged power cord. Never had any other issues with it.
It runs a MS Windows XP SP 2 which is pre-installed on a hidden partition.
Two weeks ago I had the whole system reinstalled due to the small amount of free space on the C drive and a general slow responsiveness.
It went smooth, as I used the DISK 2 DISC Acer’s recovery tool to reinstall my OS.
I have successfully reinstalled all the software and used the PC without problems until yesterday.
For some reason it started to switch itself off (uncontrolled reboot). At first I thought it’s the power issue so I checked all the plugs and the POWER ADAPTER. Then I checked it with just battery on and it happened again.
I opened the case and removed one of the 2 RAM chips installed, then the second one – to make sure it is not the RAM issue again.
It was not the problem. I have scanned my PC with AVAST and with AD-AWARE completely. I did run the chkdsk command for the C drive – no errors there.
I have switched it off and restarted it in the SAFE MODE. It worked fine. Nothing was wrong, I could explore the contents of the hard drive, even run a network connection.
When I started it in the NORMAL mode the OS didn’t load completely and rebooted itself.
I went back to the SAFE MODE and through the Control Panel checked all the hardware if there are no errors there.
Again I went to the normal mode and the computer crashed after I tried to run a random application. Then it crashed before the OS laded.
THE weird thing is – no freezing of the screen, no BLUE screens, no MEMORY dump screens, nothing!
It just behaves as someone was pressing the reboot button.
I tried the safe mode and the normal mode several times – only once when it crashed it gave away a sound that reminds me of the situations when I tried to run some PC games in the past and my integrated GFX Intel 910/915chipset couldn’t handle it. A disturbing sound and a reboot. But no blue screen.
I tried the SAFE mode again to look at the services my laptop runs after reboot, but then it started crashing before even showing the login screen.
I decided to RE-INSTALL the OS again, even though I did it 2 weeks ago.
HOWEVER, when the Symantec Ghost utility did its job and Acer recovery tool copied the windows files it started a standard scandisk and crashed.
I was very surprised. I started it again and skipped the scan for errors. The Windows XP configuration screen showed up – and it crashed.
I have powered it off and now I have no idea what to do.
If this is one of the integrated components on the motherboard I assume the repair costs would be significant.
If it is the HARD DRIVE, which I don’t suspect, I am willing to replace it.
But the laptop is quite old so I am considering buying a new one if the repair costs is more or 50% of the value of a new laptop.
Please let me know what are your thoughts and if you see any point in coming to your office.

| Hi would like to check with you regarding my new Iphone 4. I've been using my Iphone 4 for more than a month now. Today after I download 3 pictures from my camera, the phone turned totally blackout. I tried to charge and connected it back to Itunes but no more response. When I used another phone to called my own number, it was ringing but from outer appearance still totally blackout. i don't know what happen to my Iphone 4 and there's no way I can reset the phone. Could you please advise whether can the phone be repair and how much does the repair cost? Thank you |

Hello,
I have had an Acer Aspire 4530 since February 2009 and it was working fine until last month when all of a sudden one morning it could not find any wifi connections. I know the problem is not with the internet, modem or router because my roommate's laptop is working perfectly. Besides my lapptop cannot "see" no connections at all (not even from surrounding users).
When I plug it to the modem it works fine.
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem by myself?

We don't think you can slove the problem yourself,because the problem maybe in network chipset or southbridge,need special machine to fix it. You can bring your laptop to our office,we will slove the problem for you, thanks! |
